Information on international cooperation of the Karaganda State Industrial University

 

Karaganda State Industrial University (hereinafter KGIU) is actively working to expand international relations and strengthen international cooperation, university scientists maintain close creative ties with leading universities and research centers of the CIS countries and abroad. International activity is one of the priorities of the university.

In 2019, the practice of the participation of students and faculty of KGIU continued together with students of higher and secondary special educational institutions of Russia, Kazakhstan, representatives of the leading raw materials companies of the EAEU in teleconference lectures organized by the Institute of Geochemistry and Analytical Chemistry named after IN AND. Vernadsky RAS: “The use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for solving the problems of the mining and geological industry”, which was held on October 18, 2019, was organized by the Interuniversity Academic Center for Navigation in the specialties of mining and geological profile on the basis of the State Geological Museum named after V. Vernadsky RAS with the support of the Academy of Mining Sciences.

In recent years, there has been a dynamics of growth of concluded agreements between KGIU and foreign partner universities and organizations. This, in turn, expands the scope of the scientific potential of scientists and faculty of the university.

In the 2018-2019 academic year. KGIU became a part of the construction cluster of the Karaganda region and signed a memorandum of cooperation. In addition to Kazakhstan, Spain joined the consortium. This building cluster, combining the joint efforts of universities, research institutes, industrial enterprises and business entities, will increase the innovative and industrial potential of the Karaganda region, as well as expand the scope of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners.

In the academic year 2018-2019, KGIU became a part of the construction cluster of the Karaganda region and signed a memorandum of cooperation. In addition to Kazakhstan, Spain joined the consortium. On June 5, 2019, within the framework of the signed memorandum between KGIU and the Association of Developers of the Karaganda Region, a meeting with representatives of the construction cluster of the Basque Country (Spain) was held within the walls of KGIU.

In 2019, a delegation from AGH from the University of Science and Technology in Krakow (Poland) visited KGIU twice. At the moment, close cooperation is ongoing with this university in the field of production systems, mechanical engineering and robotics. The list of the main areas of cooperation includes the creation of conditions for the training and retraining of personnel, ensuring increased innovative activity in the system of education and science, the commercialization of research results; joint organization of scientific and practical conferences and seminars; joint participation and development of international cooperation programs in the field of science and innovative technologies; integration into the world scientific, educational and information systems; development of joint educational programs and scientific projects for participation in competitions of international foundations and organizations, as well as the organization and conduct of distance learning, etc.

On June 20, 2019, the VII meeting of the working commission on coordination of the activities of the Scientific and Educational Consortium of Higher Education Institutions and Research Institutes of Belarus and Kazakhstan was held at Nazarbayev University.

Within the framework of this consortium, the Karaganda State Industrial University has concluded an agreement with universities of the Republic of Belarus on international cooperation, academic mobility, research and educational work, in particular, the development of international KVN.

On October 4, 2019, the Karaganda Higher Polytechnic College hosted the international forum “STEM – Technologies in Training Industry 4.0”. The aim of the forum is to develop an algorithm to maximize the accessibility and quality of vocational education, updating its content, taking into account the needs of society, the individual and industrial and innovative development of the economy.

The event was attended by: representatives of NJSC Holding Kusipkor, heads of regional departments, university rectors, representatives of regional colleges, social partners. Representatives of the Republic of Belarus, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden were invited as expert speakers.

From October 7 to 11, 2019, in the framework of the Erasmus +: International Credit Mobility program, a professor from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (Spain) Malcolm paid a working visit to KGIU in order to achieve the most favorable conditions for mutually beneficial international business cooperation in research and educational activities. October 31, 2019 the head of the ANC department of the Karaganda State Industrial University Zhanabergenova D.K. took an active part in the International Forum of Scientists “Unity in Diversity: Kazakhstan and International Experience”, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Scientific and Expert Council of the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan (Nur-Sultan).

On November 7, 2019, a round table meeting was held at the Karaganda State Industrial University with the participation of representatives of Cintana Education and Arizona State University (USA) PhD Wadiah Atiyah, Jeny Orlova and representatives of Kazakhstani universities.

Following the meeting, issues of improving the educational system in Kazakhstan, developing academic and business strategies of universities, creating a single platform for training competitive personnel with higher and postgraduate education with US universities in the framework of double-degree education were considered.

In the period from November 15 to 20, 2019 KGIU was visited by honored guests from Italy, Professor Link Campus University, Vice-Rector for Internationalization, NKSU named after M. Kozybaeva Alessandro Figus and Italian language teacher at the Leonardo da Vinci Center Ludovico De Serio.

The purpose of the visit was to expand international cooperation with universities in Italy, as well as to consider the issue of joint participation in international programs, including the Erasmus + program.

Students, undergraduates and faculty of KGIU are winners of international competitions, scientific and practical conferences, programs, etc.:

– students Shirman A. and Bobylev A. are participants of the III Summit of student leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which was held in Gorno-Altaysk of the Russian Federation;

– 1st year undergraduate J. Amenov became the owner of the Abai-Vern intergovernmental scholarship program; in the 2019-2020 academic year, he will study at MINES Saint-Etienne University;

– Doctoral students G. Dairbekova and R. Zhaslan took part in the IV Asian Student Forum Tajikistan-Asia-2019, held under the auspices of the Association of Asian Universities at the Tajik National University of Dushanbe;

– Lecturer Panin E. took first place at the XXII International scientific and technical conference KONTECH “Advanced molding technologies and nanostructured materials;

– Teacher Moon I. is the holder of a KOFST scholarship organized by the Korean Science and Technology Society of the Republic of Korea;

– Lecturer Beisenbina M. won the TechWomen Award organized by the US Department of State;

– Teacher Moon I. is a member of the ITEC Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program, funded by the Government of India.

Currently, KGIU is negotiating with foreign universities for joint participation in the Erasmus + program: “Key Action 2“ Cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Experience ”in the component: Capacity Building in Higher Education (VET).”

In order to establish partnerships between teachers and leaders and promote the current cooperation between the USA and Kazakhstan in the field of higher education and science, an application for the Coaching Partnership Program between US-Kazakhstan Universities (UniCEN) was prepared and sent together with the University of Hawaii.

International cooperation is an integral part of the activities of the Karaganda State Industrial University, as one of the leading universities of the republic, and an important tool in ensuring the quality of education in accordance with international standards, which is aimed at improving the position of our university in the higher education system of the Republic of Kazakhstan and further integration into the world educational and the scientific community.
