Scientific work of chair is carried out according to university and faculty plans. Carried-out research works have applied character and are demanded in production. The chair of Engineering and Heat-power system carries annually out the state budgetary research work on construction and power system problems. Results of these researches have great practical value and are introduced in educational process of chair.

Scientists of chair on the basis of scientific researches wrote over 560 articles, including monographs, more than 150 copyright certificates on inventions, including over 20 patents of the Republic of Kazakhstan and CIS countries are received. The doctoral dissertation of the professor of chair Plotnikov Valeriy Mikhaylovich on the subject “Development and Application of Barriers to Ensuring Explosion Protection in Excavations and Tunnels” was defended on set of research works which included more than 100 patents and copyright certificates.

The Kazakhstan national geotechnical association  was created on the basis of chair, which include more than 70 experts from different higher education institutions and the organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

Cooperation of chair with foreign scientists

On May 28-31, 1997 the association, chair, the Ministry of science and education of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of the Euroasian state university of a name of Gumilev held the Ist Kazakhstan national geotechnical conference with participation of foreign experts on a subject: “Foundation engineering problems in soil conditions of the new capital”.

On May 25 – 28,2000 was carried out the Ist Central Asian geotechnical symposium on a subject: “Geotechnical problems of construction, architecture and ecology at a turn of the XXI century”.

On August 3-4, 2001 was carried out the Kazakh-Japanese Geotechnical seminar under the auspices of the Kazakhstan and Japanese geotechnical associations.

The chair participates with scientific reports in work of the international symposiums and conferences in the various countries of the near and far abroad.

On problems of geotechnical construction specialists of chair took part in scientific conferences, symposiums of the leading countries of Europe, Asia, Australia.

Students of older years and undergraduates are attracted for performance of research works on chair. Annually results of scientific researches are reported at various scientific-theoretical conferences. Cathedral scientific seminars with involvement of students and undergraduates are annually held. Interuniversity student’s scientific conference annually held “Student and Scientific and Technical Progress” students of specialty submit 25-35 reports, publications of reports of students in a co-authorship with teachers also are carried out.
