GRADUATION CLASS OF THE FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE RK IS 50 YEARS OLD!

2017 is especially significant for teachers, undergraduates and students of the Karaganda State Industrial University. 50 years ago the first President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Leader of the Nation, Nursultan Nazarbayev received the diploma of higher education.

History of KSIU – in the past, the plant-HTEI (Higher technical education institution) at KMP – a unique higher educational institution. It is more than half a century of history closely connected with the history of the city and the country. In the most difficult period of the Great Patriotic War in 1943, the decision of the State Defense Committee in the bend of the Nura River on the bank of the Samarkand reservoir starts the construction of the first-born of the Kazakh metallurgy – the Kazakh iron and steel works.

After the Great Victory Kazakhstan became the base for the economic reconstruction of the regions affected by the war. The country’s leadership makes a decision to build a metallurgical plant in Temirtau with a full production cycle. In the autumn of 1950 geodesists in the territory of the future industrial giant – Kazakhstan Magnitogorsk hammered the first peg.

In 1958, the Thirteenth Congress of the Komsomol declared Kazakhstan Magnitogorsk All-Union power Komsomol construction. Thousands of young men and women from all over the country responded to the Komsomol appeal. When the first difficulties of construction were left behind, and the metallurgical plant began to gain growth rates, there was an urgent need for engineering and technical personnel.

Order of the Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education of the USSR of March 4, 1958, in the city of Temirtau, on the basis of a chemical mechanical college, an evening branch of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute was opened to train specialists on the job duty. In 1961, the Temirtau evening branch was reorganized into the evening general technical faculty.

In the conditions of rapid growth of industrial and construction enterprises and organizations of the city, the general technical faculty could not fully satisfy the existing requirements for engineering and technical personnel. There was an urgent need to create an independent higher educational institution in a young industrial city.

In 1963, at the evening faculty of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute in Temirtau, a HTEI plant was opened at the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant (since 1970 – at the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant).

The fate of the country and the city with the fate of the young man from the village of Chemolgan of the Kaskelen district of the Alma-Ata region was interwoven in an amazing way. Temirtau has a special place in the life of Nursultan Nazarbayev. During meetings with the citizens of Temirtau, his words “Temirtau – my love, my youth, my destiny” always sound like a refrain. It was in this city that the working biography of the First President of our country began, it was here that the qualities of his personality as a diplomat and political leader were polished and crystallized.

In 1958, Nursultan Nazarbayev graduated from the Abay Kaskelen Secondary School. Having read the announcement about the Komsomol appeal in the newspaper “Leninskaya Smena”, he decided to go to Temirtau to build the Kazakh Magnitogorsk. In November of the same year, by the decision of the Kazakh SSR government, Nursultan, as part of a group of young men of indigenous nationality, was sent to study in the remote Ukrainian Dneprodzerzhinsk. It was in this city that one of the best technical colleges in the USSR was located – the school No. 8 at the Dnieper Metallurgical Plant named after Dzerzhinsky, in which the blast furnace workshops, crane operators, welders of the open-hearth furnaces of the open-hearth shop were prepared.

Having passed the final exams with the “excellent” mark and having received the qualification of the 8th grade, N. Nazarbayev in 1960 returned to Temirtau to work at the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant. Beginning in 1960, a nine-year period begins in the biography of Nursultan Nazarbayev, which he spent at the blast-furnace volcano, passing from the fourth furnace to the senior blast furnace gasifier.

The thirst for knowledge, the desire to master the profession of metallurgy more profoundly, lead Nazarbayev to the need for higher education. In September 1962, he became a student of the metallurgical faculty of the Temirtau branch of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute, having chosen the “red” specialty “Foundry of ferrous and non-ferrous metals”. After one and a half years of training at the branch, in February 1964 he switched to full-time education at the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute and was fully committed to his studies.

In August 1965, the metallurgical faculty at the institute was closed down and transferred to the factory of HTEI, which opened in the city of Temirtau. Nursultan writes a statement about transferring to the factory-HTEI and continues his education at the evening department, combining studies with work and active social activities. In the last year of the studies, he receives diploma theme of the next thesis: “To develop a blast-furnace shop project to provide 3.8 million tons of sheet metal and 300 million tons of foundry iron in the conditions of Karmetzavod, when the furnaces are operated with 100% fluxed agglomerate with the introduction of fuel oil into the furnace”. In 1967, having defended his diploma work by “excellent” and having received the specialty of a metallurgical engineer, Nursultan completed his training at the HTEI plant. Thus, Karaganda State Industrial University, in the past, the factory- HTEI is rightly considered the University of the First President.

Temirtau period of Nursultan Nazarbayev’s life enriched and expanded his experience of people management, contributed to his self-realization, opened new facets and possibilities of his personality. The extraordinary personal data and the fundamental higher education received by Nazarbayev were the basis for the emergence of his personality as the future First President and Leader of the Nation of sovereign Kazakhstan. Nursultan Nazarbayev said more than once: “The history of Magnitogorsk, the history of Temirtau, the fate of its people are inseparable from my fate. If there were no Magnitogorsk and Temirtau in my life, I would never become President”.

The 60s can be considered a period of the establishment of the HTEI plant as a unique higher educational institution. In total for the period from 1964 to 1969 the university issued 740 qualified personnel. Of these, 133 are graduates of the year 1967. The companions of the First President of the HTEI are the honorary metallurgist of the USSR, the veteran of the combine Kolbas Vladimir Fedorovich, the honorary metallurgist of the RK, the veteran of the combine Iskakov Toktarkhan Ibraevich, the honored economist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the former deputy director for economics of the Karaganda metallurgical plant Kauts Vladimir Aleksandrovich, the former chairman of the trade union committee of the KMP , since 1979 – the first secretary of the Temirtau city committee Strinja Victor Matveyevich and many others.

Nursultan does not miss the opportunity to meet with his colleagues and friends about work and study in Temirtau. He does not forget his Alma mater. The first visit of Nursultan to his native high school took place on July 3, 2000. It was timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the launch of a blast furnace at the Karaganda Metallurgical Combine. During the second visit – December 12, 2001 – Nursultan took part in the opening ceremony of a new academic and laboratory building of the university. The third visit, on January 13, 2003, was related to the meeting that the President held with investors  of ArcelorMittal Temirtau, Kazchrome, and Kazakhmys at the university.

The grand opening of the IX International Scientific and Practical Conference “The Third Modernization of Kazakhstan – New Concepts and Modern Solutions” with the participation of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sagadiyev was held on November 29 in Karaganda State Industrial University.

Great challenges

Welcoming the participants, he focused on the fact that this conference is devoted to new opportunities and solutions that are opening up to the country now, in the era of the third modernization.

“The head of state sets great tasks before us.” They are feasible only if all the forces of the society are consolidated, “said Yerlan Koshanov. – And when we talk about the renewal of technologies, the digitalization and quality of human capital, neither business, nor power, nor science alone can not cope with this. Therefore, we are still actively involving the scientific community, the business environment and civil society activists in the search for alternative solutions.

The guest of honor of the conference was Yerlan Sagadiev, who read the congratulation from the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev in honor of the significant date and the conference.

In his speech, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted that the degree of academic freedom at the higher educational institutions of the republic is still, unfortunately, insufficient, therefore, in the second reading of the law on academic freedom of universities, according to which they themselves will develop educational programs . Typical curricula for universities will not. The Ministry of Education and Science together with the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs will conduct a rating of training programs. Yerlan Sagadiev stressed that during the acceleration of the scientific and technical process many professions will disappear, that is why today the schoolchildren need a completely new approach to new knowledge.

Good memories

On this day, the speakers spoke a lot of warm words about the head of state and the factory-technical school at the Karmetkombinat, in which his personality was formed, about the city of Temirtau and the town-forming enterprise where the character of the future Leader of the nation was tempered and the secrets of the profession of the mountainous were comprehended.

Imperceptibly passed half a century since Nursultan Nazarbayev graduated from the university, which is now called the Karaganda State Industrial University. But as if yesterday it was. Companions of the First President of the Republic of Tuleutay Suleimenov and Kabidoll Sarekenov from the rostrum recalled the years of study with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, his active civic position and the desire to grow higher and higher. According to the recollections of fellow students, Nursultan Abishevich already in his student years distinguished such features as steadiness, conscientiousness, readiness to help comrades, talent to persuade and argue.

With words of welcome on this day, the executive director of JSC “ArcelorMitalTemirtau” Vadim Basin, the president of the Kazakh Academy of Infocommunications Shahmaran Seilov and the head of the National Security of the Astrakhan State University (Russian Federation) Ravil Arykbayev addressed the audience.

The resolution and the signing of memoranda

Each conference, according to tradition, ends with a resolution. The organizers noted the high level of reports, with a deep analysis of the current state of the affected areas of information and science-intensive technologies, as well as the forecast of their development for the coming years.

The participants of the conference decided to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the existing model of the system of education in the university in terms of full-fledged development of the individual with the identification of the basic directions for further improving the conditions for education to improve the quality of human capital. In addition, it is necessary to develop a universal, optimized model of the system of training students in a university, taking into account the comprehensive nature of the development of the individual. In the sociohumanitarian research space, in order to implement the program of modernization of public consciousness “Ruhani jangiru”, it is proposed to conceptualize the contours of the cultural identity of Kazakhstan through the prism of the synthetic unity of history, traditions, values and language in the new world order.

To publication in the republican scientific journal “Vestnik KSIU”, following the results of the hearing of reports, the articles of B.B. Bykhina (“Experimental methods for determining lead advance and broadening during rolling with the realization of an intensively plastic deformation”, NM Myrzakhanova (Tabigat Zany-Sheteu), AA Nevzorova (“The effect of microalloying with the complex Ca-Ba alloy on the structural microstructure Carbon steel “), TS Baygabatova (” Humanization and humanitarization of higher education as a factor in the formation of public consciousness of students “) and many others.
