The history of formation of chair is connected with development of the Karaganda iron and steel works.

Long time the Processing of Metals with Pressure chair prepared the specialties “Processing of metals with pressure” engineers (with specialization in rolling production), “Machines and the Processing of metals with pressure technology” (with specialization in forge forming production).

Now the “Processing of Metals with Pressure” chair prepares bachelors on the specialties “Metallurgy” the preparation direction “Technology of processing of materials pressure”, “Mechanical engineering”, “Standardization, metrology and certification”, Technicians-technologists in “Metal working” in humanitarianly – technical college.

In total more than 2000 engineers of the specialties “Processing of Metals with Pressure ” and “Machines and Technology of Processing of Metals with Pressure ” with specializations in the field of the rolling and forge and forming productions, more than 100 bachelors of the specialties “Metallurgy”, “Mechanical engineering” are trained on chair.

The magistracy in “Mechanical engineering” and since 2010 – doctoral studies in “Nanomaterials and nanotechnologies” functions on chair since 2001. The first release of masters of equipment and technology took place in 2002.
