Science activity

Research work of chair is under construction on the basis of long-term and current plans of development of chair and university.

The chair constantly participates in the various competitions which are carried out by the Ministry of Education and Science of Republic of Kazakhstan on allocation of grants on programs of basic and applied researches.

So in 2011-2012 the following financed state budgetary research works in which, along with teachers, active part was taken by undergraduates and students of chair were implemented:

  1.  Development and trial approbation of technology of receiving nanostructural materials by methods of plastic deformation.
  2. Development and improvement of technologies of pressing of preparations for the purpose of receiving nanostructural materials by plastic deformation.
  3. Development and improvement of technology of rolling of preparations in the calibrated rolls realizing intensive shift deformations, for the purpose of receiving metal with subultrafine-grained structure and high mechanical properties.
  4. Use of a resource of plasticity of continuously cast preparations for production hotter and cold rolled  sheet metal with set by structure and properties in the conditions of JSC AMT.
  5. Development of technology of forging of metals and alloys in the tool realizing intensive plastic deformations, for the purpose of receiving metal of products with subultrafine-grained structure and the increased mechanical and operational properties at insignificant power – and labor costs.

The chair participates in competitions on formation of republican scientific and technical programs of development of the knowledge-intensive productions.

Results of scientific works are made out in the form of monographs, manuals, scientific articles, demands for inventions, reports at scientific and technical conferences of various level (including international).

Results of scientific researches are regularly published in republican, foreign magazines, collections of works.

Teachers, undergraduates of chair as actively are engaged in inventive work.

For the last year on chair some research state budgetary financed subjects in the various directions were executed:

  • “Use of a resource of plasticity of continuous casting preparations for production hot-and cold rolled metal with set by structure and properties in the conditions of JSC Arselormittal Temirtau (earlier “the Karaganda Iron and steel works)” according to the “Interstate Cooperation both International Scientific and Technical Programs and Projects” program.
  • “Development and improvement of technology of receiving and deformation of an alloy of Al-Si-Fe system for the purpose of ensuring ability to plastic deformation and giving of high level of physicomechanical characteristics” according to the “Grant Financing of Scientific Researches” program.
  • “Development of theoretical and technological bases of receiving the Alloy of Al-Si-Fe system with the optimum chemical composition providing ability to be exposed to intensive plastic deformation” according to the “Grant Financing of Scientific Researches” program.
  • “Development of theoretical and technological bases of receiving prismatic preparations with high level of physicomechanical characteristics at the expense of implementation of the scheme of simple shift in the rolling tool” according to the “Scientific and/or Scientific and Technical Activity” program.
  • “Development and research of the combined process of deformation “pressing – drawing” for the purpose of receiving an aluminum and copper wire with high mechanical properties and ultrafine-grained structure” according to the “Scientific and/or Scientific and Technical Activity” program.
  • “Receiving high-quality materials by combination of heat treatment and intensive plastic deformation” according to the “Scientific and/or Scientific and Technical Activity” program.
  • “Development and research of innovative technology of hot rolling for receiving a high-quality at the minimum material and power inputs”.

In recent years technologies and the tools, allowing to receive nanostructural materials are quite successfully developed and investigated. The channelized scientific is realized within cathedral, and also Republic of research subjects financed from the state budget and programs, including republican programs of basic researches.

Protection of three master’s theses, publication of 50 scientific articles in various collections of scientific works, scientific magazines, including in the Russian magazines “Steel”, “News of higher education institutions”, “Ferrous metallurgy”, etc., were results of performance of scientific researches in the specified direction, participation in the international republican conferences, creation of a number of inventions.

Base of industrial experiments, researches, objects of industrial approbation and introduction of scientific development of chair are rolling and forge and press shops of “Arselormittal Temirtau”.

Modes of rolling of strips are offered optimum, from the point of view of the minimum waste of metal and the best quality of a sheat. New methods of a fabrication of slabs and sheets are developed.

In shops of cold rolling of plant (Cold rolling mill-2 and tin Plate shop-3) researches were mainly conducted for the purpose of the prevention of a breakage of strips on camps 1700 and 1400 improvements. Such problems were solved on the basis of mathematical modeling of processes of rolling, with use of methods of optimization of technological processes. Also statistical researches of breakage of strips and a rollability of welded seams were made.
