Forum continues

The second forum of rectors of Kazakhstani-American universities continues in Philadelphia. 

As part of the Kazakh delegation – vice minister of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Aimagambetov, vice-president of JSC “Center for International Programs” Z. Torbekova, rectors of several universities, among them – Kazakh National Pedagogical University. Abay, Karaganda State Industrial University, Eurasian University. Gumilev, Pavlodar State University. Toraigyrova, South Kazakhstan Pedagogical State University, Almaty University of Energy and Communications, South Kazakhstan State University. Auezov, Karaganda State Technical University, Taraz University of Innovation and Humanities.

International Association of Higher Education Workers – NAFSA, the world’s largest non-profit organization that deals with international education and exchange, is 70 years old. NAFSA has 10,000 members in more than 150 countries. Today, May 31, the summit of presidents and rectors will take place within the framework of NAFSA-2018. In connection with the important event, NAFSA has prepared a full-scale forum with exhibition halls, where each of the represented universities has the opportunity to state about its achievements in higher education. At the Fair of Higher Education in the exhibition hall, American universities establish partnerships with domestic universities, and also strengthen relations with Kazakh universities.

Yesterday the working day of the forum began with introductory words and greetings from officials of the Institute of International Education, the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, the University of Pennsylvania. Within the framework of the forum, a briefing was held by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institute of International Education.

The rector of the KSIU B.A. Zhautikov spoke in one of the panel discussions “Current priorities, problems and opportunities for Kazakhstan universities”. On the same day, B2B meetings were held between Kazakhstan and America universities.

A delegation from Kazakhstan visited the Pennsylvania State University campuses and the business incubator of the university.

Rectors forum in the USA

In the United States of America there is the NAFSA conference and the forum of rectors, in which the rector of the Karaganda state industrial university B.A. Zhautikov takes part.

Yesterday, on May 29, the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo 2018 conference began in Pennsylvania. An agreement was signed between Karaganda State Industrial University and Michigan State University. This document will facilitate the participation of KSIU students in the American Semester (ASP) program and is called upon to develop a mutually beneficial learning process abroad. Now KSIU will be able to send its students to Michigan State University for study for one semester, for the academic year or for summer short courses.

Today the meeting of rectors takes place in Pennsylvania State University. Speakers include representatives of the Institute of International Education, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, universities of the United States and Kazakhstan.

The Global Challenges Summit-2018 was held in Astana

The XI Astana Economic Forum Global Challenges Summit (“Global Challenges Summit”) took place in the capital of Kazakhstan on May 17-19. This year, it was based on global trends: economic growth and resource sustainability, digitalization and urbanization, longevity and the financial revolution, global security and a cultural shift.

The forum was attended by more than 500 speakers and 5000 participants from 111 countries. Among the speakers are the eighth UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, co-founder of Apple Steve Wozniak, former French President Francois Olland, film director Kshishtof Zanussi, director of the Asian Bank for Infrastructure Investments Tzin Lutzin and many others.

The forum was opened by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

– The current forum is aimed at finding effective responses to global challenges. Today, historical time has reached unprecedented density. The world is changing at an incredible speed, once again in front of the fork. From where he will turn, it depends what the humanity expects: the epoch of prosperity or the period of stagnation, “said the head of state.

Nursultan Nazarbayev singled out the five major megatrends of the planet’s development: the digitalization of all aspects of humanity’s activity, the energy revolution of the world’s movement towards clean energy, the rapid growth of the world’s population, the change in the pace and nature of urbanization, and the transformation of the global labor market.

The forum has long been an international platform, connecting economic thought, idea and practice. For 10 years, more than fifty thousand delegates from 150 countries of the world took part in the event. The effect of the forum is from attracting international investors to the exchange of new ideas for the formation of an economic policy agenda in the country and in the world.

Meeting in Poland

A meeting of the delegation of rectors of Kazakhstan universities with Polish colleagues is held in Warsaw.

 On the first day of their stay Kazakhstani rectors took part in the International Forum of Leaders in the field of engineering education Perspektywy-2018. Then, negotiations will be held in the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, where the directions for further cooperation will be determined. It is planned to sign agreements on strategic cooperation and a number of inter-university contracts.

Currently, 783 students from Kazakhstan study in Poland. Many Polish universities have bilateral agreements on cooperation with Kazakhstan universities, which can be implemented on a wider scale.

The visit of the delegation of rectors of Kazakhstan is the result of a recent working visit to Astana by the rector of the Warsaw University of Technology J. Schmidt, the rector of the Technological University Opole M. Tukiendorf and the president of the Education Foundation “Perspektywy” V. Sivinský.

Scientific creativity of young people in the world of the Fourth Industrial Revolution

The Karaganda State Industrial University hosted the XLVIII Republican Scientific and Practical Conference “Scientific Creativity of the Young in the World of the Fourth Industrial Revolution” on April 12, held jointly with the Kremenchug National University named by Ostrogradsky (Ukraine).

Scientists, teachers, employees of universities of Kazakhstan and foreign countries, enterprises and educational institutions, doctors, undergraduates and students took part in the conference. According to the conference, the chairman of the organizing committee, the director of the Institute of Electromechanics, Energy Saving and Control Systems of the Kremenchug National University named by M. Ostrogradsky, Professor AP Cherny.

At the plenary session, A.A. Aikeeva, vice-rector for research and international relations of the KSIU, spoke. She focused on the fact that the main goal set by the Head of State is to bring Kazakhstan’s education to a qualitatively new level, which allows our country to become one of the most advanced countries in the world. The importance of integrating scientific activity and the educational process is noted by the Head of State in the annual Addresses to the people of Kazakhstan. In the new message of N. A. Nazarbayev “New Development Opportunities in the Conditions of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”, clearly defined are the tasks that the country has successfully achieved in the new world with its rapidly changing conditions. Altyn Amanzholovna spoke about the scientific, innovative and international activities of the KSIU, about the plans of the university for the coming years and wished the conference participants successful work and fruitful exchange of views.

A total of 300 reports were submitted for the conference, of which the largest number was in the sections “Actual problems of engineering technology”, “Innovations in the development of metallurgy and metal science”, “Business development in Kazakhstan in the context of globalization of the world economy”, “Architecture and construction”. The works were presented in three languages ​​- Kazakh, Russian and English, at the choice of the speakers.

After a fruitful and busy day of work, the commission summed up the results. At the closing ceremony of the conference, the winners of the first three places in each section were awarded with certificates and gifts, and especially distinguished speakers, heads of educational institutions and teachers who prepared the participants, letters of gratitude.
