Throughout the year within the walls of the sports complex of KSIU regularly hosts competitions of various scale-from the University to the Republican. This anniversary year was no exception.

By the 55th anniversary of our University from 1 to 8 October 2018 in the gym of KGIU held the championship of Kazakhstan in powerlifting.

The competition was attended by 15 teams from 14 regions of our Republic – more than 450 people.

Karaganda region was represented by 130 athletes. Men competed in ten weight categories, from 48 to +120 kg, women in eight categories — from 44 to + 84 kg. Athletes from Karaganda region won 14 medals: six gold, six silver and two bronze. Among the older age group was selected for the world Cup in Sweden, among young men selection was conducted at the Asian championship in Mongolia.

The organizers of the tournament express their gratitude to the rector of KGIU Bakhyt Akhatovich Zhautikov for the providing of the gyms for the event of the national scale.
